Boston, MA (Sports Network) - The Boston Red Sox shipped reliever Ramon Ramirez to San Francisco on Saturday in exchange for minor league pitcher Daniel Turpen.
Ramirez has struggled this season after a stellar 2009 campaign, as his earned-run average has climbed from 2.84 to 4.46 over 44 appearances. The 28- year-old right-hander has also logged two saves and two holds this year.
Ramirez is 16-14 with a 3.55 ERA in 268 career games -- all out of the bullpen.
Turpen, 23, has gone 5-5 with a 4.09 ERA in 37 relief appearances this year with the Giants' Double-A affiliate in Richmond.
